<p>Pairs of ceramic or plastic porous plates are assembled to form flow channels for the purified water between then, and to obtain maximum filtration of bacteria their outer fces, ie. those on the alluvial material side, are coated with a film of Ag, Cu, Ag-Cu alloy or similar material which is water-permeable, continuous or slightly broken and strongly adherent. It is applied as a powder and then sintered, or as a porous foil, or the powder applied to the surface of the plate before it is sintered to obtain an intimate bond. In addition a foil or wire mesh of similar material may be interposed between the plates.</p> |
