<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical component in which a part of a chip composed of a plurality of waveguide type optical elements is fixed on a projecting portion of a mount, capable of preventing deterioration in optical characteristics caused by thermal stress and mechanical external force. <P>SOLUTION: An optical component 200 comprises: a first waveguide type optical element 201 such as a LN waveguide; a second and a third waveguide type optical elements 202 and 203 such as a PLC butt-connected to both ends of the first waveguide type optical element 201; and a mount 210 having a projecting portion 211 on which the first waveguide type optical element 201 is fixed. The second waveguide type optical element 202 is supported by a lower part support member 220 fixed on the mount 210 and an upper part support member 230 fixed on the lower part support member 220. The lower part support member 220 is composed of a first and a second lower part support members 220A and 220B, each of which has a face inclined so as to be brought into linear contact with an edge portion of a lower face 202A of the second waveguide type optical element 202, the lower face facing the mount 210.
