<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switch device which is capable of improving waterproofness and also allows the projecting direction of a terminal and the operating direction of an operating body to be perpendicular to each other. <P>SOLUTION: A switch device comprises: a housing 2 which has a through-hole 14 formed on an upper wall 11, and whose lateral face is opened; an operating body 18 which projects out of the housing 2 via the through-hole 14; a holder 17 which guides the operating body 18 in an operating direction inside the housing 2; a seal member 19 which has, on the periphery of a swollen portion 31, a flanged portion 32 interposed between a peripheral portion of the through-hole 14 and the holder 17; and a switch unit 4 which has a cover 41 closing a lateral-face opening 15 of the housing 2, and terminals 42 and 43 projecting out of the housing 2 from the cover 41.
