<p>The present invention inexpensively inhibits cracks from occurring from the circumferential groove of a steel-material-made outer ring in a rolling bearing. After subjecting the outer ring (11) to a heat treatment, a chemical polishing treatment is performed in the circumferential groove (11b) of the outer ring. The thermal oxide layer formed in the circumferential groove (11b) by the heat treatment is removed by the chemical polishing treatment. By removing the thermal oxide layer, which increases sensitivity to cracks, the occurrence of cracks originating from the circumferential groove (11b) is inhibited. No sharp increase in cost is incurred, because the chemical polishing treatment is all that has to be performed.</p> |
