The system has a bus bar (14) arranged along a track of a traction vehicle for providing electrical power. The bus bar is arranged within a rail channel (10) with a constant channel slot (13) running under the track, and a vehicle-side current collector measures electrical power at the bus bar. The current collector is movable in such a manner for contacting the busbar through the channel slot in the rail channel. The current collector comprises an adjustable contact shoe that is adjusted for pressing against the busbar and for passing the channel slot.
