<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that has reduced the size and cost, exhibits high cleaning performance, and is long in life time and highly reliable. <P>SOLUTION: A lubricant application device f disposed opposite an intermediate transfer body e is provided with a lubricant containing at least a hydrophobic organic compound, inorganic fine particles, and an inorganic lubricant. Thereby, the lubricant from the intermediate transfer body is transferred to the image carriers 1 of all image forming units (a, b, c, and d), and a surface friction coefficient is decreased using the lubricant. Accordingly, the image forming apparatus improves the cleaning performance for the image carrier 1 and intermediate transfer body e, reduces the cost and size, and makes cleaning failure less likely to occur. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
