<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous emulsion, excellent in characteristics such as polymerization stability, mechanical stability, freeze-thaw stability, dispersion stability when mixed with pigments or an inorganic filler and transparency of a coating. <P>SOLUTION: The aqueous emulsion contains: (A) a vinyl alcohol based polymer having a group represented by formula (I) at a terminal, with a modification density of 0.01-18 mol%; and (B) a polymer composed mainly of ethylenically unsaturated monomer units. In the formula, R represents a hydrogen atom or an OM group; and M represents a hydrogen atom, an alkali metal atom, a 1/2 alkaline earth metal atom or an ammonium group. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
