<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently grow a nugget between a workpiece positioned at the outermost position of a stacked body and a workpiece adjoining this when resistance welding is applied onto the stacked body formed by stacking a plurality of workpieces. <P>SOLUTION: A welding gun constituting the resistance welding system includes: a first welding tip and a second welding tip for holding the stacked body; and an auxiliary electrode brought into contact with the workpiece arranged at the outermost part of the stacked body with the first welding tip. When energization is performed from the first welding tip to the second welding tip, a branched electric current flowing from the first welding tip to the auxiliary electrode is simultaneously generated, and the temperature of the outermost workpiece is raised at a high temperature elevating speed.
