The invention relates to an in vitro method of screening for candidate compounds for the preventive or curative treatment of melasma, which comprises determining the capacity of a compound to modulate TRMP1, MMP2, MIA or PTGS1 expression or activity, and also to the use of modulators of TRMP1, MMP2, MIA or PTGS1 expression or activity for the treatment of melasma. The invention also relates to methods for in vitro diagnosis or prognosis of this pathological condition. |
