The injector (10) has a magnetic actuator (50) arranged in a multipart injector housing (12), and cooperating with a disk-shaped magnetic armature (48). The armature is indirectly connected to an upward and downwardly movable nozzle needle (25), which controls a passage aperture (27) for fuel flow. The nozzle needle comprises a pressure equalization surface (59) arranged in a low-pressure region (42) of the injector housing. The armature and the magnetic actuator are arranged in an end region of the injector housing, where the end region lies opposite to the passage aperture.
