<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glow plug capable of enhancing heat resistance and durability in comparison with an existing glow plug, and a method for manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The glow plug uses a sheath heater including a cylindrical sheath tube extending in an axis direction and having a closed tip, a lead member having a tip positioned in the sheath tube and a rear end projecting to the side of the rear end of the sheath tube, and a heating coil constituted of a resistance heating wire, disposed in the sheath tube, and having a tip electrically connected to the tip of the sheath tube and a rear end electrically connected to the lead member. The heating coil is formed of an alloy mainly constituted of nickel (Ni) and containing 10-37 mass% of tungsten (W), and the tungsten does not exist on the outer surface of the sheath tube. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
