<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gate valve that can prevent dry ash from tightly adhering to the interior of a valve box. <P>SOLUTION: The gate valve V1 opens and closes a passage of a transportation pipe 91 in which the dry ash Da passes. The gate valve 1 includes the valve box 1 and a valve body 2. The valve box 1 is connected to the transportation pipe 91, and has a valve chamber 11 constituting part of the passage of the transportation pipe 91 therein. The valve body 2 enters and leaves from an opening 1a formed at the external periphery of the valve box 1, and opens and closes the valve chamber 11 by progressing and retreating in the centrifugal direction of the valve chamber 11. Furthermore, the gate valve V1 includes an air pressure cylinder 3 and a jet nozzle 4. The air pressure cylinder 3 is attached to the valve box 1, and makes the valve body 2 progress and retreat.
