<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for outputting an approach notifying sound, which can detect various failures of a speaker at a desired timing. <P>SOLUTION: The device for outputting an approach notifying sound, is mounted to a vehicle including at least a motor as a travel drive device and outputs the approach notifying sound from the speaker when the vehicle is in a first travelling state that satisfies at least a state where the vehicle is driven by the motor. The device for outputting an approach notifying sound, includes a failure detection control device that stops the output of the approach notifying sound by the speaker when the vehicle is in a second travelling state where the vehicle is driven at a high speed that is faster than that of the first travelling state, and detects a failure of the speaker based on the signal output by the speaker when the speaker functions as a sound collection device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
