The vacuum conveyor belt (2) comprises a rotary drive, a U-profile (3), and a conveyor belt (8). The U-profile on the return side comprises a holder element (5) and a holding wing (7). The conveyor belt has a toothed belt profile, where the toothed belt profile interacts with the rotary drive. A chamber (11) is provided in the U-profile, which is suitable to supply the conveyor belt with negative pressure. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a valve for vacuum control of the vacuum conveyor belt; and (2) a method for receiving, transporting and storing flat articles.
