The controller (FB) has a control element (BE) and a control signal generating unit for operating TV receiving apparatuses i.e. parts of a TV receiver, with audio-/video reproducing unit and an accessory device i.e. set-top box. The reproducing unit and the device are connected under integrated function of an audio/video signal. The control element switches on and off a control signal to provide device control in the accessory device for actuating an audio-/video signal selector switch (UT) in the apparatuses such that the switch supplies a receiving section alternate to the reproducing unit.
