摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Young's modulus measurement device for optical fiber coating material and a measurement method thereof which can accurately measure a Young's modulus of the optical fiber coating material in a state of an optical fiber and can simultaneously measure a first Young's modulus acting when the coating material is cut and a second Young's modulus acting when the coating material is pulled out during stripping-off. <P>SOLUTION: A Young's modulus measurement device for optical fiber coating material comprises: a stripping-off mechanism including a caulking member for applying compression stress on coating material by being pressed against the coating material of an optical fiber and a blade for cutting the coating material by the applied compression stress; a stripping-off load measurement mechanism which gradually increases pull-out load from zero when the blade is slid in an axis direction of the optical fiber and measures stripping-off load of the coating material; and a Young's modulus measurement mechanism which divides the stripping-off load measured by the stripping-off load measurement mechanism by strain occurring on the coating material at the loaded position and a cross sectional area of the coating material, to measure a Young's modulus of the coating material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
