<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress black luminance of a plasma display device by performing a stable writing operation without using a forced initialization operation and to lower luminance of gradation being lower next to black. <P>SOLUTION: When a voltage obtained by deducting a voltage of a data electrode from a low pressure side voltage of a sustaining pulse is a first voltage and a voltage obtained by deducting a low pressure side voltage of a writing pulse from a low pressure side voltage of a scanning pulse is a third voltage, a voltage obtained by deducting the third voltage from the first voltage is equal to or higher than a discharge start voltage having the data electrode as an anode and a scanning electrode as a cathode. One field includes a first kind of subfield for applying the sustaining pulse to the scanning electrode in a sustaining period and a second kind of subfield for applying a downward inclined waveform voltage to the scanning electrode after applying an upward inclined waveform voltage to the scanning electrode without applying the sustaining pulse to the scanning electrode in the sustaining period. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
