<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eccentric optical system capable of projecting an image of an image display element to an observer's eye-ball as a virtual image by one optical element which is very small, light-weight and has the high degree of freedom in shape design. <P>SOLUTION: The eccentric optical system includes an optical surface having at least five surfaces. The optical surface is eccentric to axial principal rays within the Y-Z surface in an XYZ coordinate space. And, at least one surface is eccentric within the X-Z surface orthogonal to the Y-Z surface. At least two surfaces out of a plurality of optical surfaces are rotationally symmetric surfaces, and at least one surface out of at least two rotationally symmetric surfaces is the rotationally symmetric surface having odd-number order term of X. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
