The present invention relates to the technical field of mobile communication. A method and cell phone for switching profiles based on WIFI are disclosed. The method comprises: comparing the acquired service set identifier (SSID) of the wireless local area network (WLAN) with a pre-stored SSID, and prompting the user to enable the cell phone profile corresponding to that of the pre-stored SSID when the acquired SSID of WLAN is determined to be the same as the pre-stored SSID. The present invention uses the built-in WIFI function of the cell phone and software installed in the cell phone to alert the user of the different locations of the cell phone on the basis of various WIFI connection statuses and switches to the corresponding profile of the user's preset location automatically, thus providing great convenience to the user, and adding to the cell phone a new function of obtaining identifiers of different locations through WIFI so as to switch to the corresponding profiles. |
