A fluorinated alcohol, CnF2n+1(CH2CF2)a(CF2CF2)b(CH2CH2)cOH (where n is an integer from 1 to 6, a is an integer from 1 to 4, b is an integer from 1 to 3, and c is an integer from 1 to 3), and 2-haloethyl vinyl ether, XCH2CH2OCH=CH2, are reacted in the presence of a palladium catalyst and an aliphatic amine to remove XCH2CH2OH, producing a fluorinated vinyl ether compound, CnF2n+1(CH2CF2)a(CF2CF2)b(CH2CH2)cOCH=CH2. This fluorinated vinyl ether compound has a perfluoroalkyl group with not more than 6 carbons, which is said to have low bioaccumulation potential.
|
