<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element that allows for distinction and compatibility of component type recognition and aberration measurement reference recognition, and a metal mold. <P>SOLUTION: In a metal mold 1 for forming an optical element (an objective lens OBJ), recessed portions for forming a mark MK2 for component type distinction and a mark MK1 as an aberration measurement direction reference are previously formed on a flange portion transfer surface. The marks MK1, MK2 are transferred on the optical element by molding.
