<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that performs pixel complement with high accuracy, when interpolating a pixel having a dot image. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus obtains a pattern analogous to a pattern including an interpolation pixel from surroundings of the interpolation pixel, and uses a high-resolution pattern created by synthesizing the obtained analogous pattern to estimate a pixel value of the interpolation pixel.
