<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for half overlapping flat food products. <P>SOLUTION: A pair of product receiving members 23 in a product receiving device 19 openably and closably having the pair of product receiving members 23 that are long in the conveying direction of a carrying conveyor 7 for conveying food products 5 are relatively moved to the upstream side in the carrying direction of the carrying conveyor 7, the pair of product receiving members 23 are moved to close, and a food product 5 is received at a receiving position in the longitudinal direction of the pair of product receiving members 23 and is held. Next, when the next food product 5 reaches a lower position corresponding to a prescribed position on the further upstream side of the receiving position in the longitudinal direction of the pair of product receiving members 23, the pair of product receiving members 23 are moved to open, and the held food product 5 is overlapped with the next food product 5.
