PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve high speed focusing while automatically selecting a target area in a digital camera using a contrast detection type auto-focusing (CAF).
SOLUTION: When an auto-focusing (AF) start request is detected during live viewing (S100), whether or not a human face has been detected is judged (S102). If the size of the detected face area is larger than 50% of the effective pixel area, a sub-area centering on eyes is set as the CAF area out of the face area (S118) or, if it is smaller than 50%, the face area is set as the CAF area. Also, if more than one face is detected, an area containing some of the detected faces is set as the CAF area (S106) or, if no face is detected, a prescribed area is set as the CAF area. The frame rate is switched over to what matches the set CAF area (S108); and image signals are read out only out of the CAF area to execute CAF processing (S110).
COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
