<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copolymer which can provide a rubber composition and a pneumatic tire in which low fuel consumption and wet grip performance are improved in good balance. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a copolymer which is obtained by copolymerizing 1,3-butadiene and a compound represented by general formula (I), whose terminal is modified with a modifier having a functional group containing nitrogen, oxygen or silicon, and whose weight-average molecular weight Mw is 1.0×10<SP POS="POST">5</SP>-2.5×10<SP POS="POST">6</SP>.
