[Problem] To obtain large zinc oxide particles which have excellent transparency and capabilities such as infrared reflection and do not have a negative effect on texture when added to a cosmetic product, and to obtain a cosmetic material in which the zinc oxide particles are mixed. [Solution] Zinc oxide particles characterized in that the average particle size is 3 to 20 µm, the average friction coefficient is 3 or less, the total visible light transmittance is 85% or greater, and the near infrared reflectivity is 80% or greater.
