The present invention provides a linear actuator which generates a pushing force that effects relative displacement of an outer tube and an inner tube in the axial direction, and which comprises: a rod that stands upright in the axial region of the inner tube; a plurality of permanent magnets that are arranged side by side and held in the axial direction by the rod; a plurality of coils facing the permanent magnets; and a holder that is fixed to the outer tube and holds the plurality of coils. The holder has a cylindrical coil-holding part that holds the coils and is provided in an annular space formed between the rod and the inner tube, and a gap is formed between the outer circumference of the coil-holding part and the inner circumference of the inner tube.
