<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new double-stranded RNA having high nuclease resistance and developing excellent RNA interference effect. <P>SOLUTION: The modified double-stranded RNA capable of suppressing the expression of a target gene has the following characteristics (1) to (3): (1) the RNA has a sense-strand RNA composed of a base sequence complementary to the target sequence in the target gene and an antisense strand RNA having a base sequence complementary to the sense strand RNA; (2) the sense strand RNA is composed of 23 nucleotides and the antisense strand RNA is composed of 21 or 23 nucleotides; (3) the 5'-terminal side of the sense strand RNA is a blunt end; and (4) a substituent is bound to only at least one of the first to sixth nucleotides from the 5'-terminal side of the sense strand RNA. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
