PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for controlling an electric power steering system, which apparatus can detect the generation of abnormality in an electric power source in the non-operation state of the steering system. SOLUTION: Even in the parking state or in the non-operation state of the steering system during straight forward running, the command current value for the d axis of a motor 1 is calculated by means of the electronic control device 22 of an ECU 2. The current for the d axis is supplied to the motor 1 by controlling an inverter 21 from the command current value. As a result, the current is supplied to the inverter 21, in which the current is usually zero during the stop of the motor 1. In the case of falling-off of a connector 3, etc., the smoothing capacitor 25 in the ECU 2 discharges, and VR voltage drops. The VR voltage is detected by means of a VR monitor 28. Therefore, when the VR voltage falls below a required threshold value, the abnormality of the electric power source can be detected. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
