Coating a fiber-reinforced plastic composite produced by a crushed core process from a composite comprising a core and a prepreg covering comprises using a substrate-supported polymer film comprising a resin and a filler, where the resin comprises an aromatic polycyanate and an aromatic polyol in amounts such that the molar ratio of cyanate groups to hydroxy groups is 95:5 to 70:30 and the degree of crosslinking of the resin is below its gel point.
