A method for activating a femto base station 240, e.g. LTE Home node B, includes transmitting a binding message that binds a wireless access point 280, e.g. WiFi based access point, with the collocated femto base station 240. The binding message may be generated when an endpoint 210, e.g. desktop, laptop or notebook computer, mobile telephone, PDA, etc., concurrently maintains a first connection with the access point 280 and a second connection with the femto base station 240. Thus, the binding may indicate that the access point 280 and the femto base station 240 are located within the userâ s home location. The binding message may comprise a MAC address associated with the access point 280 and an identifier associated with the femto base station 240. Upon determining that the collocated femto base station 240 is in a power saving mode, the access point 280 transmits a request that the collocated femto base station 240 is put into an operational mode. |
