1293133 Pressure-sensitive recording process, and sheets for use therein AGFA GAVAERT NV 17 Nov 1969 [20 Nov 1968] 55081/68 Heading D2B In a pressure-sensitive recording process which comprises producing a coloured image in correspondence with pressure-activated portions of one or more recording materials by bringing together two reactants contained in the recording material(s) to form a dyestuff, one of the reactants is an oxidisable leuco dye or an amino compound in free base or salt form containing a primary or secondary amino group bound to a carbon atom forming part of a conjugated system, and the other reactant is a compound capable of yielding a hexacyanoferrate (III) ion. The formation of the dyestuff may be activated by the presence of an activating compound which provides a metallic ion under the conditions of formation of the dyestuff, the activating compound being a compound of Zn, Cd, Hg, Cu, Ag, Au or Pb. At least one of the reactants and possibly the activating compound may normally be kept separate from the other(s) by means of a pressure rupturable material, which may be in the form of microcapsules. The two reactants may be initially in contact with each other, for instance, in the same capsule, provided that the pH of the mixture is kept below 7, e.g. by means of acid stabilisers, and they are not in contact with the activating compound. A solvent for either or both of reactants, e.g. water is preferably incorporated into the recording material, or the microcapsules containing one or both of the reactants. Hygroscopic compounds, or compounds containing water in the form of water of crystallisation, may be incorporated into the recording material. The microcapsules containing one or more of the reactants may be attached to or incorporated in a paper sheet, the non-encapsulated components being applied by impregnation. Numerous examples of suitable leuco dyes and amino compounds are given. The pressurerecording sheets of the invention may be in the form of a manifold paper system.
|
