<p>A power distribution system, particularly for an aircraft, has a power distribution bus 110 supplying a plurality of localised voltage converters 120. By providing a plurality of localised voltage converters, the power distribution system may use fewer, or just a single power distribution bus at a particular voltage and convert to the desired voltage at or near to each of a plurality of pieces of electrical equipment 130 being supplied. A primary power distribution unit may be provided to receive electrical power from one or more engines and supply power to the distribution bus at a particular voltage. Supplementary distribution units, including a localised voltage converter, may be provided to receive power from the bus at one voltage and supply power to one or more loads at a different voltage. The localised voltage converters may be SMPS (switch mode power supply) and may provide an adjustable voltage output.</p> |
