The method involves controlling (110) a movement. A signal period of an activation signal i.e. pulse width modulated signal, is temporally dimensioned such that a blocking body of a valve moves into a switching position by counter force before reaching another switching position. A difference between a length of a movement path of the blocking body and a reference-length of the movement path is detected. The signal period is varied corresponding to the difference. A flow cross-section of the valve is partially released during the movement. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a control device for controlling a ballistic movement of a blocking body of a lubrication valve (2) a computer program product comprising instructions for performing a method for controlling a ballistic movement of a blocking body of a lubrication valve.
