The local operating parameters (PA1,PA2) regarding the communication state between the network components (N1,N2) which are partially operating in the communication network are provided from the respective network components. The communication state between the network components is checked, based on two operating parameters received from the network components. The network components are made to communicate with each other by an optical waveguide (L). An independent claim is included for communication network.
