A mobile public display device 10 comprises a wheeled base 11 defining a housing and a screen unit 12, e.g. LCD, LED or plasma display panel, preferably mounted above the housing and being of sufficient size, preferably at least 40 inches, to enable the content to be viewed by passing public. A receiver (112, Fig. 13) is provided for wirelessly receiving signals from an external transmitter, the signals including data representing the content to be displayed. A battery is located in the housing to provide power which may be charged by an integral battery charger. A transmitter may be provided for relaying data to the external transmitter or even to other display devices outside the external transmitter's signal range. A data port, e.g. USB port or memory card reader, may receive additional content to be displayed. The base may be provided with an immobilizing device to deter theft and a GPS transmitter to track its location if stolen. The temperature of the display is preferably controlled by means of a fan which is activated if the temperature rises too high. |
