The photovoltaic system has monitoring device (20) with input unit (26) for providing location plan (28) indicating positions of to-be-supervised components such as solar module (10), inverter (12) and alarm unit (11). An evaluating unit (24) of monitoring device assigns codes for positioning the to-be-supervised components at appropriate location by referring the location plan. An output unit (30) of monitoring device represents evaluated operation data/signal of to-be-supervised components at respective positions of components in the location plan. An independent claim is included for method for monitoring photovoltaic system.
