摘要 <p>Disclosed is a method for covalent bond formation between aluminum and a carbon material. More specially, there is provided a method of forming an Al-C covalent bond between aluminum and a carbon material by applying an electric arc to a mixture of the aluminum and the carbon material under vacuum, heated and pressurized conditions. In order to enhance the reactivity of the carbon material, the method may include the step of introducing defects in the carbon material and thus functionalizing the carbon material by treating the carbon material with acid, a microwave, or plasma. In addition, there is provided a method of fabricating an aluminum-carbon material composite, wherein an Al-C covalent bond is formed between the carbon material and aluminum by applying an electric arc, and the aluminum-carbon material composite fabricated according to the above method. Also, there is provided a method of forming an Al-C covalent bond between aluminum and a carbon material by using an electrochemical technique. The method may include the step of plating a surface of the carbon material connected to a cathode with aluminum by applying a potential to an electrochemical apparatus filled with an electrolyte and including an anode and the cathode connected with the carbon material. Furthermore, there is provided a method of fabricating an aluminum-carbon material composite, wherein a covalent bond is formed between the carbon material and aluminum by plating a surface of the carbon material with aluminum by applying a potential to the electrochemical apparatus, and the aluminum-carbon material composite fabricated according to the above method. In this way, the existing problem of bonding between aluminum and a carbon material is solved, and an aluminum/carbon material composite that is light in weight and excellent in mechanical strength can be prepared using an electric arc or an electrochemical technique.</p>
