The method involves moving a restrictor body (30) e.g. piston and membrane piston, in a cavity (28) from a predetermined position (42) to another predetermined position (44), such that a shear flow of fuel is obtained in a gap (52) between the restrictor body and the cavity, where the cavity is filled with fuel from a fuel delivery system of a combustion engine and is free of bubbles. Viscosity of fuel present in the delivery system is determined based on the time and force required for movement of the body from the former position to the latter position with predetermined velocity. An independent claim is also included for a device for determination of viscosity of fuel in a fuel delivery system of a combustion engine.
