PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating hormone refractory prostate cancer and a method for screening the same are provided to ensure remarkable anticancer effect. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating hormone refractory prostate cancer contains a compound of chemical formula 1 or 2, pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, solvate, or hydrate thereof. The composition induces hormone refractory prostate cancer cell death through apoptosis and autophage pathway. A composition for chemosensitizer for hormone refractory prostate cancer contains the compound of chemical formula 1 or 2, pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, solvate, or hydrate thereof. A method for screening a therapeutic agent for cancer comprises: a step of treating test materials to cells which expresses E2F1(E2F transcription factor 1); and a step of analyzing expression or activation of E2F1 in the cells.
