1314864 N-aryl ureas BAYER AG 7 Sept 1970 [24 Jan 1970] 42682/70 Heading C2C The invention comprises N-arylureas of the formula where either X 1 or X 2 is a CF 2 ClS- radical and the other is a hydrogen or chlorine atom, R 1 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl C 1-4 or alkenyl C 2-4 radical and R 2 is an alkyl C 1-4 or alkenyl C 2-4 radical. They are prepared by reacting an appropriate X 1 , X 2 -substituted phenyl isocyanate with an amine of the formula HNR 1 R 2 in the presence of a solvent or diluent. 3 - Chloro - 4 - difluorochloromethylmercaptophenylisocyanate is prepared by fluorination of 3 - chloro - 4 - trichloromethylmercaptophenyl isocyanate. The ureas may be used in herbicidal compositions in admixture with a solid diluent or carrier or with a liquid diluent or carrier containing a surface active agent.
