FIELD: physics. ^ SUBSTANCE: disclosed display device is an active matrix type display device and includes a display driver to which are transmitted image data (DR, DG and DB), included in serial data (SI) by serial transmission. The serial data (SI) are provided by a first flag (D1) indicating the polarity of the voltage (Vcom) of a common electrode. The display driver extracts the first flag (D1) from the serial data (SI) in accordance with the timing of a serial clock (SCLK), and conducts display based on the image data (DR, DG, DB), while generating the voltage (Vcom) of the common electrode, the voltage of which has polarity given through the extracted first flag (D1). Owing to this, a display device is made, which is capable of generating a timing signal for common alternating voltage for small circuit dimensions. ^ EFFECT: broader functional capabilities owing to generation of a timing signal for common alternating voltage in the display device. ^ 15 cl, 16 dwg |
