The present invention relates to a method for coating a cheese, wherein a water-borne coating composition is applied to a surface of the cheese, said coating composition comprising 90-40 parts by weight of a polymer A and 10-60 parts by weight of a polymer B, wherein polymer A and polymer B are each selected from the group consisting of a polyvinyl ester and a poly(meth)acrylate, wherein polymer A has a glass transition temperature Tg(A) of 10-27 °C and wherein polymer B has a glass transition temperature T g (B) of less than 8 °C. Polymer A is preferably obtainable by polymerization of a monomer mixture comprising vinyl acetate and dibutyl maleate, or by polymerization of a monomer mixture comprising vinyl acetate and ethylene. Polymer B is preferably obtainable by polymerization of a monomer mixture comprising vinyl acetate and ethylene. |
