DOUBLE-SIDED, INDEXABLE TURNING INSERT

PURPOSE: A double-sided indexable turning insert is provided to control chips favorably because the height differences between bearing surfaces and cutting edges are selected optimally. CONSTITUTION: A double-sided indexable turning insert comprises facing pairs of flat supporting planes(2) and multiple cutting edges. The facing pairs of flat supporting planes are formed in the inner side of an outer contour. The flat supporting planes is parallel to each other with respect to a middle plane(NP) locating between the centers of the flat supporting planes. The multiple cutting blades are located along an upper side and a lower side. Each cutting edge includes a nose edge(9) and two main edges(10). The height differences between the supporting planes and the bottom point(15) is maximum 0.5mm. An inclination angle of each cutting edge is at an acute angle to an entire extension line of the cutting edge.
