EDGE TYPE BACKLIGHT UNIT AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE USING THE SAME

PURPOSE: An edge type backlight unit and a liquid crystal display device using the same are provided to insert a total reflection inductive layer between an LED array and a light guide plate, thereby making a refraction angle of light incident on the light guide plate to have 90 degrees. CONSTITUTION: An LED array(10) comprises a plurality of point light sources. A light guide plate(20) converts light incident from the LED array into flat light. A total reflection inductive layer(30) is arranged between the LED array and the light guide plate. The total reflection inductive layer makes a refraction angle of light incident onto the light guide plate to have 90 degrees. LED packages(11) of the LED array generate light. A light source PCB(12) of the LED array mounts the LED packages.
