A mobile communication system having a function of updating broadcasting channel information, and a method thereof are provided to notify reception of channel information to a terminal user, so that the user can know the search time of channel information, and efficiently manage and use information related to channel information by storing channel information in a database after matching the channel information received from each user and a broadcasting center. A home location register receives new broadcasting channel information from a broadcasting center(S100). The home location register compares the new broadcasting channel information with broadcasting channel information of a specific user stored in the home location register(S110). If the new broadcasting channel information discords with the broadcasting channel information of the specific user, an SMS server transmits a broadcasting channel information change message to a terminal of the specific user(S120). The user searches for new broadcasting channel information in response to the broadcasting channel information change message and stores the new broadcasting channel information in a memory of the terminal(S130). The user transmits a signal requesting to update broadcasting channel information of the user to the home location register(S140). The home location register stores the new broadcasting channel information after matching it with the user(S150). |
