PURPOSE: A positive electrode for lithium ion battery and a lithium ion battery using thereof are provided to enhance tapped density by mixing activator with solid solution. CONSTITUTION: A positive electrode for lithium ion battery is a solid solution of Li[Li_(1/3)Mn_(2/3)]O_2 and LiM1O_2, and includes positive electrode material as positive active material. The positive electrode material is formed by mixing activator which is represented by LiM2O_2 with solid solution which has total metal valent of 4. Here, M1 stands for more than 1 of transition metal, M2 stands for transition metal which has total valent of 3. The content amount of the activator based on total mass of the solid solution and activator is 90weight% or less. An element type of the solid solution can be more than one which is selected from the following: Mn, Ni, Co, Al, Cu, Ti, and Fe. |
