The process water recycling apparatus has a collecting tank (1) for collection of carbon black water resulting from various process water, where the collecting tank has a certain processing pressure. A hydrocyclone is provided for separation of the carbon black water from clean water and thick mud. A release lock is provided for thick sludge. An independent claim is also included for a method for recycling of carbon black water in the entrained flow gasification of solid and liquid fuels.
