<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer actuator which has sufficient drive durability and in which adjacent bent portions bend in opposite directions. <P>SOLUTION: The actuator includes: a first bent portion having a first electrode layer 2, a first electrolyte layer 5 on an A face of the first electrode layer 2, and a second electrode layer 3 in contact with the first electrolyte layer 5; and a second bent portion having a first electrode layer 2, a second electrolyte layer 6 on a B face of the first electrode layer 2 opposite the A face, and a third electrode layer 4 in contact with the second electrolyte layer 6. The A face of the first electrode layer 2 has a region which does not have the first electrolyte layer 5, and the B face of the first electrode layer 2 has a region which does not have the second electrolyte layer 6.
