<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid degradation in transmission/reception characteristics even if the reflection signal of a transmission signal is not available. <P>SOLUTION: A reflection monitor signal determining part 104 determines whether or not the reflection signal of a transmission signal that is transmitted by a radio communication apparatus 100 can be extracted from the signal received by an antenna 116. A reflection monitor signal generating part 105, if determined that the reflection signal of the transmission signal cannot be extracted, generates a reflection monitor signal. A holding state determining part 114 determines a current holding state of the radio communication apparatus 100 based on the electric power of the reflection signal of transmission signal if the reflection signal is determined to be able to be extracted, but based on the electric power of the reflection signal of the reflection monitor signal if the reflection signal is determined to be unable to be extracted.
